How does it work?

In these correspondence courses, each student is paired up with an IPS instructor. Students will then work through a series of photographic, digital, and portraiture studies and assignments, turning in each one to their instructor for evaluation and grading. In addition to their shooting assignments, students are required to write essays and complete a final project.

How much does it cost?

Tuition for Prizewinning Photography Continuing Education is $185. In addition to tuition, students will incur an estimated $115 in printing, shipping, and text book expenses to complete the required assignments.

How long is the study term?

Each edition of our Continuing Education program is a 15—week semester.

What are the requirements?

Students must have previously attended a Prizewinning Photography course to enroll in the continuing education program. In addition, students must have access to a computer and email for correspondence with the IPS CE instructor.

Can I get college credit for this course?

While the Institute of Photographic Studies is not a credit granting organization, we have calculated the equivalent number of credit hours for each of our courses, taking into account instruction time, classroom hours, and personal study and application.

Should a student desire to transfer credits, portfolio their work, or verify his/her involvement, commitment, and time spent in IPS's photography courses, we recommend the following credits based on the assumption that the student has passed the courses and completed all requirements therein:

Prizewinning Photography = 2 credit hours
Continuing Education = 4 credit hours

Upon completion of the course, the student will receive report cards and/or transcripts to this effect to enable students to easily transfer these equivalent credits to another institution.
